Future World Citizens

The main aim of this course is to meet the needs of young learners in an ever-evolving world and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful future study and working life.

In morning sessions students will focus on key STEM disciplines including science, technology and engineering.  Additionally, the programme will spotlight computer science, highlighting the critical role of coding, software development and data analysis in driving technological advancements.

In afternoon sessions, students will be introduced to business fundamentals such as marketing, finance, ethical and environmental considerations and communication. They will work together to develop a business idea and business plan which they will present to a panel of judges.

A CLIL methodology is followed, with academic subjects delivered in English by qualified secondary school teachers with input from English language specialists

Course Aims

Young learners will:

  • Become responsible and successful future world citizens
  • Enhance intercultural awareness and foster a sense of global identity and belonging
  • Enhance awareness and knowledge of environmental and global issues threatening our planet
  • Learn to communicate successfully and work collaboratively with people from all over the world, learning to respect and embrace differences
  • Improve English language skills for future study and working life in an English-speaking environment
  • Develop vital soft skills such as leadership, emotional intelligence, communication, critical thinking, adaptability, problem-solving, decision making and teamwork
  • Improve subject knowledge and understanding of key hard skills required in the world of business such as project and people management, presentation skills, marketing, accounting, planning and communication
  • Create lasting friendships.

Activities

In combination with our intensive academic course, we provide a varied and structured multi-activity programme delivered by qualified sports and activities coaches. This means that students can continue practising their English through a variety of fun and challenging activities.

Excursions

Use your English in real situations and learn more about the UK. Two full-day weekend excursions and two half-day study tours per two-week stay.

Each excursion includes a tour of the area and a visit to a museum or place of historical or cultural interest. Typical destinations include: 

  • Oxford: Home to the oldest university in the UK
  • Stratford upon Avon: Birthplace of poet and playwright, William Shakespeare
  • Bath: A fine Georgian city with Roman baths
  • Paultons Park: a theme park filled with attractions and rides
  • Bristol: visit historical and heritage sites, such as Bristol Cathedral
  • Bletchley Park: Discover the incredible achievements of Britain’s World War Two Codebreakers, in the place where it happened.

Study tours take place on Wednesday afternoons and typical destinations include:

  • University of Southampton

  • Sea City Museum with the Titanic Story
  • National Museum of the Royal Navy
