Emma Herrick – Teacher of English

As an English and Media Studies teacher, Emma creates engaging curricula, leads student leadership and draws on examiner expertise to support progress and inspire achievement.

Emma Herrick is an experienced educator with a passion for inspiring students and fostering academic excellence. With five years as a Teacher of English at Mountbatten School, she has developed and implemented schemes of work for the English curriculum, skillfully monitoring data to support student progress. She is also in her first year as a Media Studies Teacher, where she has created engaging curricula, co-led a thriving media club and organised educational trips that bring learning to life.

Emma also leads Student Leadership at Mountbatten, working closely with Heads of Year to recruit, train and manage student leaders. Her efforts have cultivated a strong, dynamic leadership program that empowers students to take an active role in school life.

Before becoming a teacher, Emma was a Teaching Assistant in the English Department, where she was inspired by a mentor to pursue a teaching career. This experience solidified her commitment to education and shaped her empathetic approach to teaching. As an AQA Examiner for English Language, Emma brings a wealth of expertise to her role, equipping her students with the tools they need to excel in exams. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive, creative and inspiring learning environment.
