Before transitioning to education, Jean worked as a research scientist at the South African Sugar Research Institute. In this role, she contributed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices within the sugar industry and was instrumental in organising outreach events to share innovative research with farmers, bridging the gap between science and real-world applications.
