Jean Foster – Science Teacher

Jean Foster teaches science and leads KS2 STEM at The Mountbatten School, inspiring curiosity through practical lessons and linking science to real-world impact and future career possibilities.

Jean Foster is a dedicated science teacher at The Mountbatten School, where she leads secondary science lessons and oversees Key Stage 2 STEM provision. With a passion for fostering curiosity and creativity, Jean delivers engaging lessons and hands-on practical activities, inspiring students to explore the possibilities of a career in science. Her commitment to promoting science education has earned her recognition for encouraging enthusiasm in science among both secondary and primary school pupils.

Before transitioning to education, Jean worked as a research scientist at the South African Sugar Research Institute. In this role, she contributed to advancing sustainable agricultural practices within the sugar industry and was instrumental in organising outreach events to share innovative research with farmers, bridging the gap between science and real-world applications. Jean’s diverse experience in both research and education equips her with a unique perspective that she brings to the classroom, motivating students to understand the impact of science beyond textbooks. She is passionate about nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators, making science accessible, exciting and relevant to all her students
