Terms and Conditions

Personal Best International Education at The Mountbatten School

Once your registration has been accepted by Personal Best International Education (‘the School’), the following terms and conditions apply. Our acceptance is represented by the sending of our letter of confirmation along with the invoice. The booking of a place is regarded as your acceptance of all our terms and conditions.

1. Deposit and Payment

A non-refundable deposit of £500 is required at the time of booking for all Summer School bookings. For all Closed Group bookings, an agreed percentage deposit will be due based on the Group’s requirements. Deposits will be deducted from the total course fee and are non-refundable in case of cancellation, except as provided under the cooling-off period or other specific cancellation conditions. Payment of the balance of fees must be made at least 6 weeks before the course begins, or at the time of booking if less than 6 weeks before the start date. Please quote the student name and invoice number on all payments. All fees must be received before the course begins in order to guarantee the student’s place. All bank charges must be paid by the student/Educational Tour Operator.

The supplement for any extra services ordered and provided at the centre must be paid for by the student or Educational Tour Operator in cash, by credit card, or bank transfer before the student leaves the centre.

2. Prices

Prices are correct at the time of going to print and are subject to change without notice.

3. Changes or Cancellation of a Course by Personal Best International Education

Personal Best International Education reserves the right to cancel a course or make changes to course arrangements, without liability, if a minimum number of bookings is not reached or if forced to do so for reasons beyond its control. If this happens, the school will seek to offer alternative arrangements or dates.

In the event that a course is cancelled or significantly altered by the School, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer alternative dates or a full refund, if applicable.

4. Visas

Personal Best International Education will provide visa invitation letters to support a visa application. We reserve the right to request payment in full before such a letter is provided. If a visa application is rejected or delayed, you must inform us in writing immediately. Failure to do so may result in charges being incurred. We will refund the full amount, minus any charges for courier services, bank charges, or credit card fees, if notified in writing and on receipt of the visa refusal letter.

5. Cancellations

Notice of cancellation must be made in writing as soon as possible. Failure to provide written notification will result in charges being incurred. Cancellation fees will be charged as follows:

  • If you cancel the course more than six weeks before the start date – loss of deposit.
  • If you cancel the course between six to four weeks before the start date – 50% of course fees will be due or non-refundable.
  • If you cancel the course between four to two weeks before the start date – 75% of course fees will be due or non-refundable.
  • If you cancel the course less than two weeks before the start date – 100% of course fees will be due or non-refundable.
  • For online bookings, the buyer is entitled to a cooling-off period of 14 working days from the date of booking, during which they may cancel the booking free of charge. After this period, the cancellation terms outlined above apply.

6. Further Conditions Specific to Young Learners

The School reserves the right to issue disruptive students with a warning letter and, if there is no improvement in behaviour, to send them home at their parents’ expense and without reimbursement. The School further reserves the right to send home without a warning letter any student committing a serious offence, especially one involving the police, including but not limited to: theft, smoking on campus, the possession, purchase, or consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs, leaving the school campus without permission unaccompanied by an adult, and setting off fire alarms or door alarms without good reason. In such cases, parents or guardians will be responsible for the associated costs, including the return journey of the student.

7. Changes on or After the Start Date

No refund of course fees will be given if a student leaves before the end of the period of study, downgrades to a less expensive course, or is absent for any of the course unless due to exceptional circumstances.

8. Refunds

Any refund must be made in the same way and to the same source as the original payment. Fees paid by bank transfer must be refunded to the same account. Fees paid by credit card must be refunded to the same card.

9. Travel Arrangements

We recommend that you do not book flights or make travel arrangements until the course booking is confirmed. If the student requires an airport transfer, please send through their arrival details as early as possible and at the latest 2 weeks before the start date of the course. It is your responsibility to provide us with the transport details and to inform us of any changes.

10. Liability and Insurance

International student travel insurance is provided in partnership with GuardMe and is included in the course fees. The policy provides cover including emergency medical assistance and medical costs, protection in the event of cancellation or curtailment, cover for loss, theft of or damage to baggage and personal money. A Certificate of Insurance will be issued on receipt of full payment for the course. Full details of the policy can be obtained from Personal Best International Education on request. Except in cases of negligence or misconduct by the School, the School shall not be held liable for any loss, injury, or damage suffered by the student, whether during travel, at the centre, or otherwise, beyond the scope of the travel insurance provided. The School’s liability is limited to the total amount paid by the student for the course, and the School is not liable for any consequential or indirect damages.

The School reserves the right not to allow on the course a student suffering from any illness, medical condition, or mental or physical disability which has not been disclosed on the Registration Form. We cannot be held responsible for any incident arising due to medical information not being provided.

On arrival at the centre, students must hand in their pocket money, plane tickets, passport, and any other valuables to the office for safekeeping. Personal Best International Education cannot be held responsible for any loss of money and/or personal items.

11. Force Majeure

In the event of a force majeure, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, war, government restrictions, civil unrest, strikes, or any other event beyond the reasonable control of the School, Personal Best International Education reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the course. In such cases, the School will provide a refund or offer an alternative course date or arrangement, as appropriate. However, the School will not be held liable for any costs or losses incurred by the student or their representatives as a result of such events.

12. Photographs and Blog

Personal Best International Education may take photos of students for promotional purposes. If you do not want the child to appear in our promotional material, please tick the relevant box on the registration form. We run a blog of the summer school during the session. This is a great way for parents and agents to see what is happening at the school. If you do not want the child to appear on our blog, please tick the relevant box on the registration form. Your wishes will always be respected.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These are the only terms and conditions that can be referred to in the event of a disagreement between the student and the School. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and do not affect your statutory rights under English law. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
